Healthy Pets Northwest is a group of locally owned and operated businesses in Portland, Oregon. Julie Cantonwine opened the first Healthy Pets Northwest store nearly ten years ago on a shoestring budget and a vision of offering healthier, natural options to pet owners.
Today, her vision is still strong and the Healthy Pets Northwest group has grown to include three Portland locations and an online store. We are proud of the positive impact Healthy Pets Northwest has had on awareness of healthier pet nutrition and for the many loyal customers we serve.
To bring you high quality, natural products to promote pet health.
To offer alternative solutions for pet health without toxic chemicals, by-products, dyes, fillers or unnecessary ingredients.
To find the best, most cost-effective options in natural pet foods, raw diets, supplements, homeopathic remedies, flower essences, educational books, toys and supplies.
To be an active community member by supporting educational programs, community events, and local non-profits.
A Portland native, Laura draws from her experiences to help educate pet owners about natural foods and remedies available at Healthy Pets Northwest. Health seminars and animal adoption events are part of Laura’s involvement in community outreach. It is important to Laura that Healthy Pets Northwest has a relationship deeper than retail sales with their customers.
Laura is dedicated to healthy, natural living for her own pets, too. Her four cats are avid raw diet eaters and have tested most of the supplements, treats, foods, litters and toys that the store carries. She recently adopted a puppy named Willa, who keeps Laura busy. Feel free to ask what are their favorites! Laura’s answer will always be straight from the heart.
Michael Carroll and Barb Cantonwine Partners Healthy Pets Northwest, Inc
Michael and Barb came to Healthy Pets Northwest from Salt Lake City. Michael brings more than 20 years of experience in the Health and Physical Medicine field to the company. "Michael loves research and knowing the facts and details about products, companies and health-promoting options for pets and people," explains Barb about her husband. Barb comes from a technical support background in the computer industry. She brings a deep affection for people and animals of all kinds to the business, including the wild birds that flock to their home.
Michael and Barb share their lives with Meadow, a 3-year-old English Shepard mix. Meadow was very shy when she came to live with Michael and Barb. With patience and great courage on her part, she has made spectacular progress. She grows more confident every day and is taking on the role of greeting customers and other dogs when they come into the Multnomah store.
Julie's courage and vision are the reasons we have Healthy Pets Northwest. She started the company around a belief that providing researched-based natural options for animal companions was simply the right thing to do. Julie remains an active partner and guiding force in the company's direction, values and success.
Julie is the proud caregiver of Lou Reed, a rescued little white Bichon Frise.
